VSagainst a Lafarge factory in the Bouches-du-Rhône, against the “mega-basins” in the Deux-Sèvres, against the A69 motorway between Toulouse and Castres, against the Lyon-Turin train line and now against… its own disappearance . It is in response to the dissolution of the Uprisings of the Earth (SDT) pronounced this Wednesday by the executive that the movement called to demonstrate in stride in front of all the prefectures of France.

Not because of the music festival, but because it was a few kilometers away, in Notre-Dame-des-Landes, that this collective was founded in January 2021 by anti-airport activists. And because it is also partly there, in the famous ZAD, that the anti-terrorism sub-directorate (just that!) carried out a series of arrests on Tuesday. A descent ordered by the parquet floor of Aix-en-Provence following the action carried out last December at the cement manufacturer in the vicinity of Marseille. Among the fifteen people arrested, six were arrested in Loire-Atlantique, including Benoît Feuillu, an early activist based in the ZAD.

Today it’s Les Uprisings of the Earth but tomorrow it may be another association that campaigns for a slightly brighter futurePaco, a protester

At 7 p.m., a thousand people therefore gathered in front of the Loire-Atlantique prefecture, in Nantes, surrounded by an imposing force of law enforcement on the ground and in the air with a helicopter flying over the city center. The goal ? Discourage the formation of a possible procession towards streets taken over by music groups and passers-by.

In fact, if there was a parade, it was kept away from the crowded streets and no overflow finally marred the evening. Anyway, Paco

, had warned: “We are certainly not here to go and hit the cop or do an act of violence”. Like everyone here, this 30-year-old first came to express his concern about a possible drift by the authorities. “Today it is Les Uprisings of the Earth which are concerned by this dissolution but tomorrow it will perhaps be another association which militates for a slightly brighter future”. Some far-right groups are still active »

Dissolutions, Agnès Bourget would however have liked the Minister of the Interior to pronounce others. “I find it very worrying that we are attacking the SDTs while certain far-right groups are still active and we have still not denounced their behavior, protests the mayor (Divers Gauche) of Rezé , town south of Nantes, came with its tricolor scarf. I am thinking of my colleague from Saint-Brevin. We still haven’t talked about the extreme right in this case and there, we immediately dissolve the SLT! »READ ALSOSaint-Brevin: the new mayor has already filed three complaints

Even if the city councilor does not approve of all the actions carried out (in particular that, recently, in the market gardeners of Nantes), she deplores the vocabulary used by Gerald Darmanin to describe the environmental activists. “As an elected official or minister, we have a responsibility in terms of social peace and to speak of an eco-terrorist I find that very serious, words are important, we must not mix everything up. “Marc, he totally rejects this label:” We are not eco-terrorists, we are just there to change things for the better and not in the capitalist sense. Afterwards, this dissolution will not change anything, the SDT is a state of mind and anyone can be part of it. »READ ALSO

In Nantes, the Uprisings of the Earth destroy ecology

On condition, however, of remaining discreet since, following this dissolution pronounced in the name of the law on separatism (the lawyers of the collective have filed an appeal), anyone claiming to be SDT could be liable to prosecution. This is likely to make people in the courts because to date the movement has some 110,000 members in 180 local committees throughout the country. And everyone seems determined not to let go. “The government claimed to make us disappear, in reality we will be more and more visible every day, launched an activist at the microphone. In the coming days and weeks, we will continue to bring Les Uprisings of the Earth to the public space in a thousand ways. »

The resistance is on.
