Supporting actor Oscar: Laura Dern and Brad Pitt are unsurprisingly winning

The 92nd edition of the Oscars was once again opened with one of the supporting actor categories. Regina King (49), who was the best supporting actress for "Beale Street" last year, chose the man who, after countless other victories in this category, was already a winner. Brad Pitt (56) creamed his first gold boy as an actor for "One Upon a Time … in Hollywood" – as a co-producer he already won in 2014 for "12 Years a Slave".

Absolutely everyone in the hall granted Pitt the prize, which in addition to some political tips and gags praised co-star Leonardo DiCaprio (45), director Quentin Tarantino (56), Hollywood itself and of course his children. He prevailed against Tom Hanks (63, "The Wonderful Mr. Rogers"), Anthony Hopkins (82, "The Two Popes"), Al Pacino (79, "The Irishman") and Joe Pesci (77, "The Irishman ").

The favorite also wins

Mahershala Ali (45), awarded for his performance in "Green Book" in 2019, read the winner as "Best Supporting Actress". As with the Lords of Creation, the person who started the race in the run-up to the Oscars as the favorite was the winner. Laura Dern (52) received the gold boy for her performance as a tough divorce lawyer in the drama "Marriage Story" by Noah Baumbach (50).

It wasn't easy for Dern and the Academy jury this year. With Kathy Bates (71, "The Case of Richard Jewell"), Scarlett Johansson (35, "Jojo Rabbit"), Florence Pugh (24, "Little Women") and Margot Robbie (29, "Bombshell – The End of the Silence") the field of participants was great.
