While other phones are already getting Android 12, Microsoft is now distributing Android 11 for the Surface Duo almost a year late. The manufacturer from Redmond had actually promised to roll out the update in summer 2021.

As Microsoft announces on its own support website, the following improvements are included in the update in addition to the new features of Android 11.

You can start OneNote when you click the top button of the Surface Slim Pen 2 and it is paired with the phone. You can also set what your preferences are for calls when folded.

Microsoft has now also adjusted the quick settings and the notification bar for portrait and landscape mode. You can now also adjust the media volume in any device mode from the quick settings.

Thumb mode in all device modes

SwiftKey’s thumb mode can now also be used in all device modes and application states. With Android 11, the app drawer and folder design have also been revised.

The Microsoft feed widget has also been revised. Maps and the News & Weather widget get a new look. In the OneDrive app, you can view photos on one screen and edit them on the second display. With Xbox GamePass you can play games from the cloud on your mobile phone.
