The Reels land on Facebook © Meta

Meta just rolled out to Facebook
a video feature well known to Instagrammers: Reels. At the end of the article, Clubic explains how it works on the social network.

Erected as a format that ” grows the fastest Within the social networks of the Meta group, according to Mark Zuckerberg himself, Reels, which allows Instagram users to create short, fun and entertaining videos of about sixty seconds, now lands on Facebook. The Californian group has just made the announcement and specifies that the format is also available in France, from now on, both on iOS and Android.

Facebook Reels aligned with those of Instagram, limited to 60 seconds

Users from more than 175 countries, including France, now have access to the Reels functionality on their mobile, from the social network with the most members in the world: Facebook (2.91 billion). This news confirms the rise of video on Facebook, which today represents almost half of the content consumed, in time spent, on the platform.

Reels joins Facebook Live, Facebook Watch and the famous Stories, already from Instagram, as a video format made available to users, to create entertaining pellets that are easy to watch. By deploying Reels on Facebook, Meta is taking the opportunity to launch several new features around this format:

  • The Remix feature, which allows you to create a new Reel juxtaposed with an existing Reel. The original Reel appears on the left of the screen, while the Remix appears on the right. The user can then include part or all of a Reel posted by another person.
  • An extended format. If Instagram initially limited its Reels to 15 seconds before extending this bar to 30, then today to 60 seconds (and perhaps soon to 90 seconds), Facebook is already aligning itself with its little brother by giving its users the possibility of performing 60-second Reels as soon as the feature is deployed.

? The declaration of Mark Zuckerberg, the boss of Meta :

Reels is already by far our fastest growing content format, and today we’re making it available to everyone on Facebook. We want Reels to be the best place for creators to connect with their community and earn a living, so we’re also launching new monetization tools. »

Reel monetization options coming soon to content creators on Facebook

To promote this launch and make it known to its users, Meta has planned to offer real visibility to Reels in different Facebook spaces. This includes both Groups, Watch, and Post Feed Suggestions. Reels content can also be shared directly in Story and imported from an Instagram account.

Facebook sees the launch of Reels as the perfect opportunity to give the social network a boost by offering one of the most popular tools for content creators on Instagram. The latter will be able to reach an even larger audience on Facebook and thus increase their audience. The platform intends, in the coming weeks, to introduce a monetization feature for these Reels, thanks to advertising banners and stickers.

So, will Reels become a source of income for creators on Facebook? Meta believes in this and is already testing overlay ads for creators in the US, Canada and Mexico. Banner ads will appear as a semi-transparent overlay at the bottom of the Reel, while stickers can be placed anywhere on the Reel by creators. These two monetization options should only result in “ minimal interruptions “Promises Facebook.

But by the way, how to create a Reel on Facebook?

It’s all very beautiful, you will tell us, but how do you create a Reel on Facebook? In reality, it’s quite simple, and the process only requires five steps within everyone’s reach.

  • First, you need to open the Facebook app, tap on the Reels label and select the “Create a Reel” button.
  • Then you can press the traditional red and white record button to shoot a new video. It is also possible, via the photo icon at the bottom left of the screen, to add existing video or photo clips to your Reel.
  • You can add text, effects, subtitles, sound and even a timer to your Reel, by tapping on the side icons, found on the right side of the screen.
  • Then, you can write a description associated with the Reel and define your audience. Here, Facebook asks you ” Who can see the Reels that you post. This means that you can, like a classic publication on the platform, define who will see the video badge. We therefore find the public mode, with a Reel accessible to everyone, even outside of Facebook; friends mode, accessible to your Facebook contacts; and the “friends except…” mode. You will choose your option for other future videos, knowing that you can always come back to this option.
  • Finally, all you have to do is press the “Share the Reel” button to publish it. And voila !
