If we talk a lot about the Galaxy A34 and A54, which are the subject of regular information leaks, Samsung starts the year with the most affordable smartphone of its A series, the Galaxy A14. The device, announced without warning by the Korean, will be available in a single 5G version, thus probably signing the end of the 4G and 5G versions of the terminals in the range.
5G and Full HD
The characteristics of the terminal evolve relatively little overall if we compare this Galaxy A14 5G to the Galaxy A13 5G. It is a little larger, since it has a 6.6 inch panel against 6.5 inches for its predecessor, and above all gains a Full HD + definition, where its predecessor was content with HD +. It nevertheless retains a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a notch in the shape of a drop of water. Under its hood, it is necessary according to SamMobile expect an Exynos 1330 chip, replacing the Dimensity 700 of the A13 5G, which could however be kept in certain markets. This chip, whatever it is, is flanked by 4 to 6 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 GB of storage. Like its predecessor, the smartphone has a microSD port to expand this space.
To this change of screen is added another novelty, dedicated to the front photo sensor of the Galaxy A14 5G: it goes from 5 to 13 megapixels on this new generation. For the rest, the new smartphone retains a technical sheet close to that of its predecessor. It has both a triple photo block with a main 50 megapixel sensor (wide-angle optics) and two 2 Mpx sensors each dedicated to macro and depth measurement. Its battery retains a capacity of 5000 mAh, presumably with no improvement in terms of charging speed.
Finally, we note that the Galaxy A14 will be released under Android 13 with One UI 5 in the Core version, that is to say in a lighter version, dedicated to entry-level mobiles. Samsung promises up to two years of operating system updates and four years of security patches. The launch of the device is announced by Samsung Belgium in mid-March, while Samsung Spain is content with a more cautious “in the coming months”. Our colleagues from SamMobile indicate for their part that the device will be invoiced from 229 € and available from April. We can hope for a launch at a similar price in the spring in France, which remains to be confirmed by Samsung France. Remember that the Galaxy A13 5G was announced when it was released at €249.
