Sabine Lisicki and her fiancé have an “exciting” journey ahead of them. The two are becoming parents for the first time. The tennis player announced the baby news on Instagram. The first prominent well-wishers have already gathered there.
Sabine Lisicki is pregnant. “Life has many surprises in store for you, including this one. My fiancé and I are looking forward to the exciting journey. That also means that I have to make a comeback again,” explains the tennis star on Instagram. A reference to her serious knee injury in 2020. Lisicki had to undergo surgery and had to laboriously learn to walk again on crutches. But she bravely fought her way back onto the tennis court. “If you’re honest, no one expected that I would ever be able to play professional tennis again,” said Lisicki in an interview with ntv.de in 2023.
To accompany the baby news, the 34-year-old shared a picture that was taken on the beach and shows two hands holding each other including a ring. She also posted another shot of white baby booties and a sign framed with flowers that read: “Surprise – baby coming in 2024.” She also uses the hashtags “#pregnant #surprise #journey #pregnant”.
There are already numerous congratulations in the comments on the post. Presenter and model Rebecca Mir, for example, wrote: “Oh how nice, congratulations.” Model Franziska Knuppe also congratulated the couple.
Sabine Lisicki caused a sensation in 2013. She beat Serena Williams, then number one in the world rankings, in the round of 16 at Wimbledon and was the first German to reach the singles final of a Grand Slam tournament at the world’s most important tennis tournament since Steffi Graf in 1999. Lisicki’s relationship with the entertainer Oliver Pocher also made headlines. The celebrity couple were in a relationship from late 2013 to March 2016.
