Surprise ! Windows 11 23H2 is finally available for download!

Windows 11 is moving to its last major version before the release of Windows 12 planned for next year.

Microsoft is now rolling out the update to Windows 11 2023 (Windows 11 version 23H2). It is described by the publisher as an extended and cumulative release, containing both previously announced and beta-tested features, as well as new improvements.

A discreet chat tool accessible from the taskbar

In addition to the new features already covered in this article, Microsoft adds that Windows 11 23H2 changes the way Chat (Conversations) works, which becomes Microsoft Teams. The feature is available for free to all Windows users and is pinned to the taskbar by default. The Redmond firm promises “mini communication experience” practical and intuitive. Its compact size makes it easy to place the window anywhere on the desk while continuing with other activities.

The update also transforms the way you manage your applications. In the Start menu, Windows 11 system components are labeled as such to make them easier to recognize from other programs.

How to install Windows 11 23H2 update?

Microsoft specifies that Windows 11 version 23H2 shares the same code base and servicing branch as Windows 11 version 22H2, which helps provide a seamless and fast update experience. Concretely, Windows 11 23H2 can be installed as simply as a regular monthly update if you are already on Windows 11 22H2.

“Windows 11 23H2 eligible devices running Windows 11 version 21H1 require a full OS swap to update to Windows 11 version 23H2”says the American giant.

As usual, the simplest solution to obtain the update now is to use Windows Update. Click on the button “Check for updates”then on “Download and Install”. Some configurations can be served a little later if Windows detects an incompatibility problem with applications. The update will then be proposed when the problem is resolved.
