The surveillance camera “Paintcam Eve” shoots paintballs and tear gas at burglars. What sounds like a joke is actually a Kickstarter campaign.

The Slovenian manufacturer Paintcam has come up with a special concept for a surveillance camera. Why only film areas or people? Not all intruders can be deterred by this. So why not just shoot? That’s exactly what the Paintcam Eve is supposed to do, which will be financed in a Kickstartet campaign from April 23rd.
There is already initial information about the camera concept on the website. According to the manufacturer, it is intended to proactively defend the property. There is also a shooting device for paintballs inside the paintcam. This is intended to mark intruders and make it easier for the police to catch them. As an alternative to colored paintballs, the manufacturer also offers shooting UV paint and tear gas as an option.
The camera not only works during the day, but should also be able to recognize strangers at night. According to Gizmochina, people can be saved as friends or enemies. This is intended to prevent unwanted triggering.

If a stranger is recognized with you, the camera asks whether it should shoot or not. However, if the camera detects a stranger when you are not there, they will be asked to leave the property and will be marked with a warning laser. If it doesn’t comply with the warning, the camera shoots the paintballs – supposedly with extreme precision.
The video material is said to be in HD quality – the exact resolution is currently unknown. Live view and viewing of recordings are possible via the corresponding app on your cell phone.
Camera in three versions
The surveillance camera will appear in three versions: Eve, Eve+ and Eve Pro. The regular Eve supports “Smart Security” (no further information on what that is), and there is also app control on board.
Eve+ also comes with animal recognition, Eve Pro also recognizes faces. There is no information about the prices; first the campaign must be successful so that series production is possible.
