The loss of her father is heavy: GZSZ star Susan Sideropoulos, 43, announced on Instagram in February 2024 that her beloved dad Pierro Sideropoulos, †77, had died. Grief often took the actress’s breath away; her world “shattered into a thousand pieces” with her father’s death, as she herself explained on the social media platform.

Susan Sideropoulos: Papa Pierro (†) died because of it

In an interview with “Bild”, Susan explained that she lost her beloved father to cancer. Only the closest family circle knew about Pierro’s difficult struggle. “That was my decision because his illness would have overshadowed everything. My father was a bon vivant and fought against lung cancer for a long time,” Susan explains her decision.

Four weeks ago, the TV actress had to say goodbye to her beloved father – but working and returning to normality is of course anything but easy after such a bitter loss.

“I had to put my makeup on twice because I suddenly cried”

“When I was recently at a work event, I realized that it was too early for me. I had to put my make-up on twice because I suddenly had to cry,” she admits in the interview. She’s still looking for a way to better deal with the absence of her father – “and that’s okay.” After all, she has “no formula for how to grieve.” The fact that she dealt with his death so transparently was the right path for her. A path that brought her countless loving and compassionate comments on Instagram. Many users expressed their sincere condolences to Susan.

Funeral for Pierro Sideropoulos was a “celebration of life”

However, Pierro Sideropoulos’ funeral service was anything but a tragedy, but was just as the celebrity landlord of the Hamburg cult Italian restaurant “La Casita” would have wanted it to be: full of joy of life.

“He would have wanted me to carry on. That’s why we had a ‘celebration of life’ and not a memorial service for him! He definitely wouldn’t have wanted us all to sit at the table sad. We were colorfully dressed, had music, had sang, said toasts to him and told us funny stories about him. It was a celebration between laughter and tears,” Susan remembers of saying goodbye to Papa Pierro.
