Sustainable consumption doesn't have to be expensive! The cost check

Stand-by me

The triple socket deep under the sofa and no crawling down? Perhaps these annual savings will inspire you to finally pull out the plug on a few electrical devices at night:

  • TV: 10.22 euros
  • WLAN router: 10.22 euros
  • Notebook: 1.64 euros
  • Mobile phone charger: 2.04 euros

Makes 24.12 euros a year – only for the four parts! And then there's radio, game console, boxes …

A hairy thing

Team bottle or team solid shampoo? We spend around 12.60 euros a year for normal shampoo containers. The solid hair soap is a bit more expensive at € 16.40 a year, but it lasts much longer.

Smooth nonsense …

… continue to buy plastic razors, even if the costs are temptingly low at 6 euros. In the long run, however, the price of the blades (around 28 euros / year) hurts. Suggestion: invest 50 euros in a safety razor (don't worry, it looks scary). You can even afford the blades (approx. 1.70 euros a year) at the end of the month!

It can really pack up

The epitome of a single-use product: cling film! Or does anyone manage to use the stuff a second time? Just. Not to mention the microplastics that stick to my fruit afterwards. The problem is: The film is ultra-cheap, even with daily use of 10 x 15 cm, it only costs 2.35 euros a year. A beeswax set (3 pieces) is more expensive at 20 euros a year, that's for sure. But honestly: cling film? Then better put a plate over the bowl …

Drum roll

Setting the machine from 40 to 30 degrees saves 18 percent in electricity costs and thus (Wortwitz-Alert) real money: in the year 56.16 euros instead of 68.64 euros with three washes a week. Running!

Jump on the line!

Again to write down: German drinking water is the most strictly controlled food nationwide. And: Yes, it is even better than water from a plastic bottle because the requirements of the Mineral and Table Water Ordinance are not as strict as those of the Drinking Water Ordinance. Now for the money fact: 2.5 liters of water per day from the tap cost 1.82 euros in twelve months, from PET bottles 273.75 euros. Any questions?

Raise the cups!

You like this: We like this: Don't act like this, it's important! For an average period, tampons and pads cost around 26 euros a year. The menstrual cup is better for around 15 euros: it can be used for years and pays off after seven months.

Illuminate critically

Now don't pretend you don't have any more! The olle 60-watt bulb causes electricity costs of 25 euros a year. For a 6-watt LED lamp, on the other hand, there is a (high) green light for 2.50 euros per year.

Heat, heat, baby?

The questions of all questions: Will the frozen pizza (which is bad per se) get better if you preheat it? Say it like this: Whistling for preheating saves up to 20 percent energy. Even more if you use air circulation instead of top / bottom heat. The 7 euros less a year are not mega now, but who does not honor the penny and so never becomes a millionaire …

Waterproof

Small miracle: the standard shower comes to 60 liters during a 5-minute shower, an energy-saving shower head only consumes 24 liters. Bäm: 54 euros saved per year! And best of all: the shower head only costs around 15 euros, so it is brought back in after 50 showers.

Take stock, please!

Live on as before? Makes 527.46 euros per year.

Switch to green? Costs only 149.58 euros.
