The SVP manages the referendum against the climate protection law after all

When it comes to the climate protection law, the new Federal Councilor Albert Rösti will probably have to compete against his party.

tsf. The voters should vote on the law on climate protection goals. The SVP managed the referendum against the indirect counter-proposal to the glacier initiative decided by parliament shortly before the deadline. The referendum came about very clearly, explained the Valais SVP National Councilor Michael Graber on Monday Blick.tv.

Over 80,000 signatures were collected. For the referendum to take place, 50,000 certified signatures are required. The SVP wants to submit the referendum on January 18 against what it calls the “electricity guzzler law”.

The core of the parliamentary proposal takes up the main demand of the referendum: Switzerland should gradually become climate-neutral by 2050. Not only the left and the eco-parties voted for the indirect counter-proposal, the FDP and the center also supported the compromise.

lia. The party president of the Green Liberals, Jürg Grossen, wants to run for the Council of States in the national elections in autumn. The Bern Cantonal Party announced on Friday that its management had unanimously nominated Grossen as a candidate for the Council of States for the attention of the General Assembly. The party meeting will take place on February 2nd.

As an experienced national councilor with a broad network in federal Berne, Grossen is the ideal candidate, according to a statement from the cantonal party. As an entrepreneur and energy politician, he can make important contributions to the great challenges of our time.

The GLP of the Canton of Bern wants to move into the Council of States with Grossen for the first time and win the seat of the no longer running Social Democrat Hans Stöckli for the party. SP National Councilor Flavia Wasserfallen, Central National Councilor Lorenz Hess and FDP Councilor Sandra Hess have also expressed an interest in this seat.

Jürg Grossen is an electrical planner and has been a member of the National Council for the GLP since 2011, and he has chaired the party since 2017.

Federal councilors can look forward to higher wages

The rise in prices brings them a bulging pay packet: Albert Rösti, Ignazio Cassis, Elisabeth Baume-Schneider and Alain Berset.

dvp. Compared to other countries, prices in Germany have risen only moderately. Despite this, inflation at just under 3 percent this year is the highest it has been in thirty years.

However, employees in all sectors cannot expect wages to rise to the same extent as their cost of living increases. The 40,000 federal employees can consider themselves lucky: They are granted a generous cost-of-living allowance of 2.5 percent. And last but not least, the department heads at the top of the federal administration also benefit from this. Your annual income will increase by 11,421 francs to 468,275 francs in 2023, as reported by the CH Media newspapers. This corresponds to an allowance of just over CHF 950 per month.

The ordinance of the Federal Assembly on the remuneration of magistrates, which dates from 2002, stipulates that the salaries of Federal Councilors will be adjusted in line with inflation. Twenty years ago, the salary of a federal councilor was CHF 404,791 per year.

Not only at the federal level, but also in the cantons, the members of the government receive more wages. How high the cost-of-living adjustment is, however, differs significantly from canton to canton. In Zurich, the inflation adjustment is a whopping 3.5 percent. In Aargau, Solothurn and Lucerne, canton employees only get 1.5 percent more.
