Sweden Royals: THIS Sweden Royal is the least popular

For King Carl Gustaf, the new year starts with a success: A survey has shown that the people have a lot of trust in him and the Swedish royals. Another member of the royal family did surprisingly badly for this.

Only recently did King Carl Gustaf, 76, cause a stir with his statements on the succession to the throne: In the documentary “Sveriges sista kungar” (engl.: “Sweden’s last kings”), which has been online since Sunday, January 8, 2023 on SVT Play is available, the monarch once again laments the constitutional change that made Princess Victoria, 45, instead of Prince Carl Philip, 43, his heir to the throne 40 years ago. The fact that the regent published a statement shortly thereafter, in which he affirmed that he would stand behind his daughter, seems to have calmed the people down. Because according to a survey, Carl Gustaf is popular – in contrast to his wife Queen Silvia, 79.

Sweden Royals: King Carl Gustaf is seen as a good representative

A new survey by the “Novus” institute commissioned by broadcaster TV4 has shown that Swedes have a high level of trust in their royal family. 64 percent of respondents believe that the king is a good representative of Sweden. 71 percent think that the royal family in general represents the country well – and just as many want to keep the monarchy. However, two-thirds of respondents also believed that Carl Gustaf should cede the throne to Crown Princess Victoria, reports the Swedish TV channel.

King Carl Gustaf: Explosive Interview! He thinks it’s “terrible” that Victoria will be queen

Nevertheless, the result of the survey is a clear success for the monarchy, as media researcher Ulrika Andersson from the University of Gothenburg emphasizes to TV4: “It is clear that the royal family has a stable position in Swedish society. It is an institution that is of great importance stability.”

In it, Queen Silvia takes last place

Considering that the need for the monarchy has been questioned in some Scandinavian countries for years, the current poll results could reassure the Swedish head of state. Especially as he celebrates his 50th jubilee on the throne in September this year.

The opinion institute also wanted to know from the citizens which royal they would like to invite for a coffee. Here, Victoria wins the race with 42 percent, followed by her father with 19 percent. Prince Carl Philip and Florida resident Princess Madeleine, 40, land at the bottom with eight and seven percent, respectively. Surprisingly, Queen Silvia brings up the rear – only four percent of those surveyed could imagine sitting down for a chat with her. Princess Sofia, 38, does not even appear in the list.

However, it must be emphasized that it is unclear how many people were interviewed, which is why it cannot be said how representative the survey is for the country.
