Puff pastry fir trees on a stick

Ingredients for about 6 people

  • 1 roll of puff pastry from the refrigerated section
  • 50 g chocolate spread
  • 1 egg yolk

aside from that

  • 6 cinnamon stars, 6 skewers, powdered sugar

preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees top/bottom heat.
  2. Take the puff pastry roll out of the fridge and place it short-side up on the work surface in front of you. Now spread the chocolate cream from the top to the middle and fold the uncoated side of the puff pastry up in the middle so that it completely covers the chocolate half.
  3. Now roll a rolling pin lightly over the dough so that the two halves stick together well.
  4. Then you take a knife or a pizza roller and cut strips about two finger wide from top to bottom. There should be at least 6 strands.
  5. Now you take the shashlik skewers and pierce the individual strands in waves from bottom to top on the skewers, creating a Christmas tree pattern.
  6. Before baking, brush the puff pastry Christmas trees with a little egg yolk and place them next to each other on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake them for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Finally, let the trees cool down. Then you can dust them with icing sugar and optionally put a cinnamon star on top. Enjoy your meal!

As already mentioned, this recipe is very easy to change. Of course, you can not only cover the puff pastry with chocolate cream, but also with something else melted butter and cinnamon and sugar, your choice of jam or peanut butter. Also hearty the little delicacies can be prepared excellently: try it with us ham as a filling and an olive instead of the cinnamon star from or sprinkles cheese between the layers of puff pastry. One also tastes delicious Pesto filling or pizza fir trees with tomato sauce, spread cheese and optionally salami. This recipe is just perfect as a last-minute appetizer or dessert and also looks great as an edible table decoration. Enjoy and Merry Christmas.
