“To be honest, a medal would crown my career,” said Kreundl, who had already finished fifth in the 100 m individual medley. With 2:07.42, she missed Lisa Zaiser’s nine-year-old record by just 0.12 seconds. The 26-year-old still sees potential for improvement. “It wasn’t quite there yet, I choked a little on the last 50, that can be done even better. Then we’ll see what happens tomorrow. I’m having a lot of fun. I get goosebumps when I talk about it.” She is particularly pleased that her “lungs are working again after Corona.” A medal would also be the first for the Austrian Swimming Association in these title fights.
