Dominic Stricker.

  • Dominic Stricker succeeds in his Swiss Indoors premiere made to measure.
  • The 20-year-old Swiss beats Maxime Cressy in the first round 7:6 (7:4) and 6:3.
  • In the round of 16, Stricker meets the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta.

Admittedly, Maxime Cressy, number 34 in the world, did not live up to his reputation. The 25-year-old, who was born in France for the USA, played too badly.

But you also have to have the class and toughness to take advantage of it. And Dominic Stricker (ATP 129) did exactly that on his first appearance at the Swiss Indoors.

«Big Points» to Stricker

The Swiss wild card holder showed a solid game and was present in the decisive points. In the tie-break of the first set he was behind with a mini-break before scoring two nice points as a return player. After another mini-break to make it 6:3, he couldn’t take the sentence anymore.

In the second round he managed the decisive break to 4:2 to zero. After 86 minutes he closed the game with his first match point with an ace.

Overall, Stricker used two out of three breakballs. The fact that he had to make a detour via the tie-break in the first round was due to his only loss of service: When he was able to serve to win the set, he received the re-break. Stricker has potential for growth with its service. Although he hit 7 aces, it was only a good half of his 1st serves in the field.

Now against Carreno

Next round is No. 5 seeded 31-year-old Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, world No. 15.
