The last stage on the way to the Swiss League playoff final was a tough affair for the favored Kloten and Olten.

The mutual omission of match pucks in their 5th games of the semi-final series left its mark on EHC Kloten and EHC Olten. Accordingly, the next attempt was quite sluggish.

But for the two top teams in the regular season in the Swiss League, the bottom line was: All’s well that ends well. They both won their series 4-2. The Zürcher Unterländer won the final with a 3:2 win over HC Thurgau in Weinfelden. Marc Marchon tied an early brace and Tim Wolf made 28 saves.

The “power mice” with a final furioso

Olten had to make up for a deficit twice away in La Chaux-de-Fonds and finally trembled to 4:3. Solothurn pulled out coach Thierry Paterlini’s team in the last section by going from 1:2 to 4:2 within 113 seconds.

The widely awaited final duel (best of seven) will be launched in Kloten on Monday. It is also about promotion to the upper house, which is now being increased to 14 teams.
