Swiss real-time data network Streamr wants to launch Testnet for mining

The Swiss real-time data network Streamr will be launching a test network in the coming days with which they want to make mining a little different.

The decentralized Swiss real-time data network Streamr will open to miners shortly. This emerges from a press release that BTC-ECHO has received. In order to put the plans into practice, a testnet will be launched on August 31st, in which everyone can participate. On the Streamr blog there is a Tutorialthat explains the individual steps for participation.

The mining process differs from conventional digital prospecting activities in that it does not require any special mining software. Instead of solving hash puzzles in the usual way, the rewards are collected through the sharing of bandwidth, similar to theta. First-class hardware such as Antminer should also not be necessary. According to Streamr, miners should even be able to operate their nodes on laptops or even a smaller device like a Raspberry Pi. With the launch of the Testnet, two million of the native DATA tokens are available for mining.

The news of the upcoming launch has not yet had a positive effect on the DATA course. At the time of going to press, the token is 2.78 percent in the red. However, the generally optimistic mood on the crypto market did not stop at DATA either. The cryptocurrency has been clearly on the uptrend since August. This is also shown by a look at the monthly performance. Overall, the token was able to gain 77 percent. At press time, DATA is trading at $ 0.16.

Streamr takes part in the Swiss Blockchain Hackathon

In general, Streamr is a layer-zero protocol for real-time data. A decentralized pub / sub network is operated for this purpose, which is mainly used for streaming analysis and data integration. Streamr also works with other blockchains such as Ethereum or xDai, which are used for identity, security and payments. The project also identified social media, chat apps, decentralized application metrics and video streaming as further potential use cases.

In addition, Streamr will take part in the upcoming Swiss Blockchain Hackathon part. Together with over 500 hackers, they want to link further areas of application and business models with decentralized technologies. The blockchain projects Velas, Algorand and Near are also expected. SEBA Bank also announced its participation.

The Swiss Blockchain Hackathon will take place from October 29th to 31st, 2021 and is part of the NTN Innovation Booster – Blockchain Nation Switzerland. Together with the consortium partner Trust Square, the hackathon is being organized at different locations in Switzerland at the same time. Events take place at the Ambassador House in Zurich, at SUPSI in Lugano, at the University of Geneva and online.
