Almost two months before the start of the European Championships in Germany, Xherdan Shaqiri suffered a setback. In Chicago Fire’s MLS game against Real Salt Lake, the Nati player had to be substituted in the 28th minute. Shaqiri collided with opponent Alexandros Katranis and was unable to continue playing.

The nature of the injury is not yet known, but there is great concern shortly before the European Championships. The Basel player, who has always shone at the World Cup or European Championship finals since 2014, scored a wonderful free kick for Switzerland to win 1-0 against Ireland last month. In doing so, he reminded us how important he is for the Swiss national team – despite his 32 years, his lack of playing rhythm and his golden exile in the MLS.

Messi with a brace

Chicago ultimately lost the game 0-4 and only has 9 points after 9 rounds. The gap in the Eastern Conference to leader Inter Miami is 9 points. The Florida team won 3-1 against Nashville. The match winner was superstar Lionel Messi. The Argentine shone with a brace.
