Switch: a legendary and atypical Nintendo game soon to return?

When he was still the undisputed king of home consoles, Nintendo had organized a very real competition, inspired by the film VideoKid: The Brilliant Child. The Nintendo World Championships took place in the United States in 1990 with challenges inspired by Super Mario Bros, Rad Racer and Tetris. Cartridges were produced in ultra-limited editions at the time, then a new competition took place in 2015 on Ultimate NES Remix (with levels based on Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 And Dr.Mario).

Why talk about all this again in 2024? Well because L’ESRB has listed in its database a certain Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for Switch. The video game rating agency calls it a collection of 2D platformers and challenges across multiple modes, with players scoring points by defeating enemies or surviving brief battles.

L’insider Pyoro had already teased this game and claims that “It’s literally Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition”therefore with challenges based on Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer And Tetris. L’insider also states that the game will not be free despite its age, players would have to pay $30 to rediscover Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. Pyoro finally affirms that it will not be “just a port”, it remains to be seen what this means, Internet users are already working for an emulated version of the original game, even if Nintendo could offer us a real modernized version of this cult game.

We will now have to wait for the Japanese manufacturer to formalize Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, as well as its release date. Until then, you can find other Switch games on Amazon, Cdiscount And Fnac.
