We are currently in the period of quarterly financial statements among video game publishers and Nintendo don’t escape the rule. It was this Tuesday that the Japanese giant therefore communicated his, the opportunity for us to share with you our usual summary article. To begin with, in terms of hardware, the Switch is now at 132.46 million units sold worldwide, or 2.93 million in these three months alone compared to the previous assessment. The trend is downward compared to the same period last year, nothing surprising for a console which is approaching its seventh anniversary. The only record that it has not yet broken is that of the Nintendo DS, which has sold 154.02 million units over its entire lifespan. Nintendo note that the percentage of sales of the Switch OLED model is increasing, whose profit margin is lower than other versions of the machine. On this subject, the 2.93 million are distributed as follows: 0.6 million classic Switch, 0.47 million Switch Lite and therefore 1.86 million for OLED.
On the software side, the total now stands at 1.13323 billion games sold (1,133.23 million if that speaks to you better), with over these three months no less than 44.88 million copies found a buyer. Again, this is down from last year.
The top 10 games first party don’t move a hair of his mustache and the new adventure of Link only sold around 990,000 units over these three months. Its predecessor, which still finds buyers, has in comparison garnered 500,000 more sales. Suffice to say that the historic craze for the license at the time of release seems to have subsided. In comparison, the king Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold 1.55 million copies over this period, even if it is much more mainstream. As for Pokémon Scarlet and Purpleeven if catching up on the games 8G does not seem possible yet, its 23.23 million copies mean that the duo joins the ranking of the 20 games of Nintendo best-selling in history ! Big N. also note that Super Mario Bros. The film had a positive impact on game sales Mario.

The share of dematerialized products increased slightly over these three months, rising to 54.2%., game sales in this format representing 50.2% of the total. The publisher also indicates that downloadable versions of games released physically like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sold well and an increase in content purchases in DLC and subscription to Nintendo Switch Online should be noted.
As for Nintendo overall, its net profits are doing the best with a turnover up 21.2% over the past half-year (from April to the end of September 2023) of 796.2 billion yen, or approximately 4.95 billion euros, and net profits of 271 .2 billion yen, or 1.69 billion euros. For the next review, we should be entitled to sales figures regarding Detective Pikachu Returns, Super Mario Bros. Wonder (read our test), WarioWare: Move It! And Super Mario RPG (read our preview). Suffice to say that there should be quite a few sales for the end of the year, especially regarding the latest 2D platform game in the publisher’s flagship saga. Finally, it is good to note that Metroid Prime 4 is still indicated, even if we haven’t seen the color after all these years.
