Nintendo has just launched a repair service called Nintendo Wide Care. This program, billed around 15 dollars per year, covers a set of repairs on the Nintendo Switch. Enough to ensure effective and inexpensive protection against the Joy-Con Drift in particular, but also other incidents. Only, it will be necessary to reside in Japan to benefit from it, for the moment.
As you may know, the Nintendo Switch has been the victim for years now of a recurring problem, which is also found on all versions of the hybrid console, such as the Switch Lite or the Switch OLED: the Joy-Con Drift.
This anomaly causes ghost movements on the Joy-Con sticks. In other words, your character may find itself moving on its own, without touching the controller. This phenomenon has taken on such proportions over the years that many consumer defense associations have called for an official investigation.
In April 2022, we also learned that repair shops in Britain were overwhelmed with the Joy-Con Drift, due to the bewildering number of user requests. As a reminder, if you are a victim of the problemonly three solutions are available to you:
- Go through Nintendo’s after-sales service if the Joy-Con are still under warranty
- Buy spare sticks yourself and make repairs
- Buy Joy-Con, which are still sold at €79.99 on the official Nintendo website (it is possible to find some at a lower price at other retailers around €65)

Nintendo launches subscription repair service
However, we have just learned that several Japanese associations for the defense of consumers have managed to bend the Japanese giant. To meet the expectations of organizations, the Kyoto firm has just launched a new service in the archipelago called: Nintendo WideCare.
This is a repair service. Against a subscription fixed at 15 dollars per year, the user will be able to cover his console against several damages and damages, related to falls, water, various technical breakdowns (screen, joysticks, dock, etc.), without forget the famous Joy-Con Drift.
According to Nintendo, this program makes it possible to claim a maximum of six repairs per year and is valid for the three existing Switch models on the market. Unfortunately and as attractive as it is, Nintendo Wide Care is currently reserved for Japanese users.
