Switzerland: a large sum promised to the one who will help solve a sordid cold case

Ana Paula’s corpse was found on September 2, 2006 in Switzerland and a very large sum is promised to those who will find her murderer.

Call for witnesses. More than 15 years after the murder of Ana Paula, 31-year-old Brazilian girl found dead on September 2, 2006 in Switzerland in the Allschwil forest, the culprit has still not been found. This is one of the reasons why the authorities decided to reopen this cold case in order to solicit the public’s help, and to know if the slightest information on this case could have escaped them. And to really motivate the public and put the odds on their side, the authorities have promised a reward of 20,000 euros to anyone who can give them new leads. According to the media 24 hours, Ana Paula was a mother of two children, who became addicted to cocaine and resorted to prostitution in order to finance her addiction. On September 2, a jogger came across her lifeless, naked body, which bore signs of strangulation.

The current conclusions of the investigation are that Ana Paula had left to exercise her activity the morning of her death, and that she would have gotten into the car of a client who intended to kill her. Despite the DNA traces found on the victim, no match with DNA already listed in the authorities’ database could be established, the culprit could therefore never be identified. Only the case now enjoys a major advantage: a cold case Task Force has been set up in Basel-Country and its members have decided to take charge of Ana Paula’s case. With the help of German profilers, the profile of the killer could therefore be established to allow anyone who recognizes someone in the description to report them to the police.

Suspect has psychopathic personality traits

According to them, the man who killed Ana Paula would be between 40 and 50 years old – since they estimated that he was 25 to 35 years old at the time of the murder -, would know the forest of Allschwil, the middle of the Basel prostitution and he could have already been involved in a conflict with prostitutes. In addition to these characteristics, man would have, as is often the case, a discreet life, would be endowed with an average intelligence, psychopathic personality traits and a strong lack of empathy. It remains to be seen whether these new efforts will be enough to finally get their hands on the person who killed Ana Paula, and whether the reward offered will encourage potential witnesses to come forward to the authorities.
