The police were unable to explain the causes of these successive derailments which occurred north of the Swiss capital. The stormy winds, which crossed Switzerland on Friday, are probably the cause of the second derailment, according to the company RBS (Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn).

In the first derailment, “the rear part of the train overturned on the right side”, explained the police spokeswoman. The accident occurred on the line that runs along Lake Biel, operated by the company Aare Seeland mobil (Asm).

A depression centered on the south of England on Friday generated strong winds over part of Europe, including Switzerland, underlines MeteoSwiss. The strongest gusts were generally accompanied by showers and thunderstorms. MeteoSwiss had warned in the morning against winds of 80 to 110 km / h in the plain and 100 to 140 km / h in the mountains.
