It has been several years since the famous Japanese license Sword Art Online is entitled to various and varied video game adaptations on PC, consoles and mobiles, the latest being Alicization Lycoris. Despite the passage of time, success is still there and it is therefore no surprise that Bandai Namco announced yesterday the arrival of Sword Art Online Variant Showdowna new title which will be released this year worldwide on iOS and Android.

Presented as the episode celebrating the 10th anniversary of the franchise, this action game did not reveal much except that it will take place in a new virtual world called Cross Edge. Kirito and his friends will decide to go there to investigate a player whose behavior seems close to that of members belonging to the Laughing Coffin assassin guild but, of course, not everything will happen as expected.
