Sylvie Meis presents “Love Island VIP”. The presenter reveals details about the spin-off and talks about her own highlights of the summer.
“Love Island VIP” starts on October 24th (every Thursday at 8:15 p.m. on RTLzwei). For the first time, well-known faces are looking for happiness on Love Island. In Greece, ex-Islanders like Melissa Damilia (29) or Danilo Cristilli (27) meet other reality stars like Yasin Mohamed or Yeliz Koc. Not only are these two couples ex-flames, other Islanders also have a shared past. The VIP edition is moderated by “Love Island” presenter Sylvie Meis (46), who has presented the dating show since 2021. “Seeing singles who are looking for true love and then also stars we think we know in a format like ‘Love Island’ makes it particularly exciting this time,” Meis is happy about it Spin-off in conversation with spot on news. The season will be more exciting and glamorous than ever before.
“Hammer-Cast” provides surprises
“We also want to offer the celebrities something, so we had to pimp up our villa a bit, the atmosphere is fantastic,” the presenter promises a slightly different look for the dome show. There is also a “hammer cast that we all think we know, but many of us will surprise us and we will see things that we don’t expect”. As a presenter, Meis says she was often surprised, especially at the mating ceremonies. “A lot happened this season that I didn’t expect.” What she enjoys most about her job is “seeing people choose someone, where you see the infatuation, how it grows, where it’s about whether they make it to the final or not, whether it has a future or not.” .
For her, it’s “a celebration to host this show because you’re always learning something new. I enjoy spending the time in Greece and preparing with my team and of course slipping into my own glamor looks. I’m always happy “I’m really excited to see my work on TV because this time I can watch the season in peace in front of the TV.”
Will “real power couples” be found?
And how does it change “Love Island” that familiar faces plunge into a love adventure? “On the one hand, it can be a disadvantage that our stars have already heard of each other and may have prejudices if they have already met each other or even know each other better…” says Meis, pointing to the ex-couples, who will move into the villa. “But the other advantage is that both sides are part of public life. They have a similar lifestyle, they know what it’s about, they know the appearances, where you make money, but they also know the negative sides of being known. I think that people appreciate that, in the best case scenario, they can build a future together and work in the same business. They can strengthen each other and become a real power couple.”
In order for love to work, the Islanders should “not block themselves and define their type of man or woman in advance, as this will only limit themselves,” advises Meis. “You should just be open, open your heart and really be there for love. You have the ultimate lucky situation that you can concentrate on love without a cell phone, without social media, without other jobs. On people who also know “What you experience every day as a reality star.” And maybe it will work again with ex-lovers. “I can imagine that couples can feel something for each other again if they have already been together,” says Meis. “We have to wait and see what happens in the villa.”
“Love Island VIP” brings summer feelings into autumn again. In addition to filming, Sylvie Meis spent the summer vacationing with her son Damián (18) in Ibiza. The wedding of her good friend Riccardo Simonetti (31) in Mallorca was also a highlight. “It was just a really nice summer. Unfortunately the weather went from 30 degrees to winter in two days (laughs). But I’m also looking forward to the cozy days in October and November and the festive season in December.”
