As she announced together with her ex-husband and father of the child, ex-soccer star Rafael van der Vaart (37), in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper, Damian will soon live with van der Vaart in Denmark. The reason: the boy will follow in his father's footsteps in the U15 team at the renowned club Esberg fB.
"I was shocked and said no at first," Meis reports of her first thought after sending the message that her son was given this opportunity. "Of course I didn't want to let him go," admits the moderator openly. Then she slept about it one night and asked Damian frankly what he wanted. "Without putting pressure on him as a mother," says Meis. She couldn't stand in the way of her son's dreams.
Strong feelings with Sylvie Meis
For a week she only cried day and night. Van der Vaart can clearly understand the feelings of his ex-wife: "I also know what it's like to be separated from your child." In recent years, Rafael has organized training sessions for his son, in which Damian took part during his vacation. By the way: Hamburger SV, also an ex-club of van der Vaart, is apparently not yet an issue.
