Do you suddenly see a small “i” next to your message on WhatsApp? We’ll tell you what the symbol is all about.
The WhatsApp messenger is sometimes full of surprises. Search queries on Google are currently trending towards a symbol that appears next to a message that has been sent. It is a lowercase “i”, which some also call an upside-down exclamation mark.
According to the Peruvian online magazine Mag., the symbol is related to the “self-deleting messages” function in Messenger. If this is activated, messages in the selected chats will be deleted after a certain period of time. If this doesn’t work, the messenger will inform you about it with an “i” after the message.
Self-deleting message cannot be deleted
If you tap on this, you will be informed that the message could not be deleted. This may be due, among other things, to the fact that your contact is using an outdated version of WhatsApp that does not yet support self-deleting messages.
New symbols are currently appearing more and more on WhatsApp. In further articles we will tell you what is behind the wave in chats, the new button in WhatsApp Web and the arrow next to your name.
