Tado° connected thermostats: a function to anticipate the cost of energy bills


In a context of great tension around the cost of energy, manufacturers of products aimed at optimizing heating management are offering functionalities to reduce or analyze consumer bills. Thermostats, which regulate the temperature, are among the solutions that can be adopted.

While a basic thermostat will generally just turn the heating on or off depending on the temperature set by the user, smart models take into account other parameters such as the outside temperature. Connected thermostats can go further by also taking into account the habits of the inhabitants, their location or other parameters.

The manufacturer Tado° also offers another feature that it has been gradually rolling out since the beginning of October to all those who have one of its connected thermostats. Called Energy IQ, it will take into account the cost of energy and estimate the amount of future bills.

Estimate in euros or in kWh

When the user subscribes to the Auto-assist subscription, the application allows him to access the Energy Cockpit interface, where a daily updated report reveals the monthly consumption estimate. A slider allows you to switch to the currencies to obtain an estimate in euros. The app also allows you to compare the consumption of the current month with that of the previous year.

Other analysis data is available, which indicates the average outdoor temperature compared to the previous period or the breakdown by rooms. For this last data to be as relevant as possible, a Tado° device must be present in each room, for example by means of thermostatic heads on the radiators.

To obtain this result, the user must first enter certain data in the app: meter readings or heating bills, but also the amount of the energy tariff subscribed with the supplier.

Tado is gradually rolling out its new Energy IQ feature to its users subscribing to the Auto-assist option (€2.99/month or €24.99/year). This also gives access to automated energy management by taking into account the geolocation of users to turn off the heating in their absence or activate it before their return, the detection of window openings or even standby functions. and advice.
