While Google presented Wear OS 3 nine months ago, few connected watches launched since then have the new version of the OS for smartwatches on board. Truth be told, only the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic came out with this update. For their part, the other manufacturers of watches under Wear OS – such as Mobvoi or Fossil – have launched new watches since then, but which will only be updated later.

This is also the case of the new connected watch from Tag Heuer, to say the least luxurious. Unveiled this Thursday, this new connected watch is elegant to say the least and undoubtedly ranks in the luxury connected watch segment, alongside the MontBlanc Summit watches.

In terms of features, the Tag Heuer Connected Caliber E4 is available in two variants, a first of 42 mm and a wider of 45 mm. The manufacturer also announces that it has increased the autonomy of the 45 mm model by 30% compared to the previous generation. If Tag Heuer does not specify the full autonomy of its watch, it is nevertheless difficult to hope for an autonomy of one week, the watches connected under Wear OS generally offering an autonomy of one to two days at most. For the controls, we will obviously find a 1.28 (412 x 412 pixels) or 1.39 inch (454 x 454 pixels) Oled touch screen, protected behind sapphire crystal, but also a rotating crown positioned on the right. of the stainless steel case.

A watch with full physical activity tracking

On the activity tracking side, Tag Heuer announces that its Connected Caliber E4 incorporates 7-minute guided workouts with distance, pace and heart rate measurement. The watch is thus equipped with a heart rate monitor for the heart rate, an accelerometer to measure the number of steps and a GPS to measure the distance traveled as closely as possible. For connectivity, the watch has a Bluetooth 5.0 chip to pair with a smartphone.

As reported by the Android Central site, the Tag Heuer Connected Caliber E4 also embeds the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip, one of the latest processors for Qualcomm connected watches. This is the same chip built into the Fossil Gen. 6 which will also be updated to Wear OS 3. Indeed, if the Tag Heuer watch will be launched in March under Wear OS 2, an update is already planned by the manufacturer to bring it to wear OS 3 when the operating system will be available for manufacturers other than Samsung.

A luxury watch, the Tag Heuer Connected Caliber E4 will be available at a high price. In France, the watch will be available from 1,700 euros for the 42 mm version with a black rubber strap and up to 2,400 euros for the 45 mm version with a titanium case and a black rubber strap. Other models will be offered with the bracelet and the steel case or the leather strap.
