The screenwriter couldn't have imagined that better himself. Taika Waititi (44, "Jojo Rabbit") has achieved what other celebrities only dream of after a breakup: It remained secret! As the industry portal "Page Six" reports, the Oscar winner and his wife Chelsea Winstanley (44, "Saving Grace") have been separated for a good two years.
Public hide and seek game?
The New Zealand celebrity couple has been married since 2012 and has kept the separation secret until the very end. This year, the two sat at the same table at both the Academy Awards and the British Academy Film Awards, and they were together at a Los Angeles Lakers game in early March.
Waititi is said to already have a new flame. So he had been seen several times this year with the same woman. According to the sources of Page Six, this is his former assistant Polly Baker. Waititi has been working with her since the production of "Where the wild people hunt" in 2016.
Notes on social media?
Attentive fans may have smelled fuses in the past: A tweet From mid-February, which shows a portrait of the couple, Winstanley commented: "Thank you for the portrait. It is nice to be recognized but even better not to be connected by name #notmyhusband". For World Women's Day about a week ago, Waititi meanwhile posted a greeting and a martial comic clip of a girl who spits blood on Instagram. We can only hope that the separation will remain as peaceful as before.
