Take the “risk”: Ramelow wants complete opening in the fall

Ramelow wants to open completely in the fall

The number of new infections is falling, and more and more people are vaccinated against Covid-19. According to Bodo Ramelow, Germany should soon dare to return to normal. The Thuringian Prime Minister also commented on those who do not want to be vaccinated.

The advancing vaccination campaign in Germany gives Thuringia’s Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow hope. In an interview with the “Rheinische Post”, the left-wing politician spoke out in favor of completely relaxing the corona rules in autumn. “I think we can take the risk of opening it completely in the fall,” said Ramelow. Resistance is higher this year thanks to the vaccine. But he also knows that 20 to 25 percent of the population will not be vaccinated. “They then have to bear the risk themselves and take responsibility,” he said.

In an interview with ntv, the chairman of the board of the World Medical Association, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, warned not to be negligent when it comes to vaccinations. “In order to have permanent peace from the virus, we need a vaccination quota in the dimension of 80 percent of the population,” he said. Otherwise, lockdown measures would have to be reintroduced in the autumn.

The virologist Christian Drosten from the Berlin Charité recently warned of negligence in the NDR podcast “Coronavirus Update”. He cited as an example that people did not pick up their second vaccination, for example. “Things like that should just not happen. I think that will be the next big task,” said Drosten.

According to Ramelow, two people probably died in Thuringia as a result of a Covid vaccination. He regrets that very much, the relatives received support, said Ramelow. “But with two in a million the risks are assessable and explainable,” he added. “Normality means living with risks.”
