Tamron Announces UGA 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD Zoom for Fujifilm APS-C Mirrorless

Tamron continues to expand its optical fleet for hybrid devices of all brands. We already knew the 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD in E-mount for Sony APS-C cameras such as the Sony Alpha 6600, and now the Japanese brand is announcing the adaptation of this ultra wide-angle for Fujifilm’s X mount.

Good quality, but no stabilization

The simplistic approach of this UGA zoom and its construction combining plastic and metal make it particularly compact. During the passage of the Sony E version in our laboratories, we noted a weight of 335 grams. It’s a safe bet that this X-mount iteration won’t fundamentally change the qualities of this little pebble, which will be ideal for landscape, reportage or architectural photography.

It is expected that this new model will resume the optical formula of its elder based on 12 elements divided into 10 groups, including an ED glass lens and another with XLD glass. This recipe has proven itself in our laboratories, in particular thanks to its quality and its constant aperture at f/2.8, which gives it great versatility; we only regretted a too present vignetting and the absence of stabilization. Mounted on a stabilized Fujifilm camera like the X-T5, this small shortcoming should not be felt too much.

Price and availability

Tamron does not give a precise release date, but announces a launch for spring 2023. If the brand has not yet communicated a price, the previous model in Sony E mount had arrived on the shelves at 899 €.
