Tatort: Rebland: Is it worth turning on the Black Forest crime thriller?

A radio presenter is raped after a wine festival. The inspectors Tobler and Berg are looking for the perpetrator. Is it worth switching on?

In "Tatort: Rebland" (September 27th, 8:15 pm, the first), the inspectors Franziska Tobler (Eva Löbau, 48) and Friedemann Berg (Hans-Jochen Wagner, 51) hunt criminals between vineyards. This time they have to hunt down a rapist and do not use entirely legal means.

That's what "Tatort: Rebland" is about

After a wine festival in the Kaiserstuhl, the radio presenter and friend of police chief Cornelia Harms (Steffi Kühnert, 57), Beate Schmidbauer (Victoria Trauttmansdorff, 60), is beaten down and raped by an unknown man. Although the perpetrator's DNA can be saved, there are no hits in the database. After all, the investigators from Alsace receive the news that a man with the same DNA has been wanted for manslaughter and rape for years.

The colleagues from France also have a comprehensive DNA feature test that provides information on age, skin and eye color, among other things. With this information, the group of suspects could be narrowed down. The problem: In Germany this DNA analysis is not allowed. Nevertheless, the investigators use the information and target three suspects. When none of the men want to give a DNA sample, the police hang on their heels – which turns the lives of the three upside down …

Is it worth switching on?

Yes. The latest case from the beautiful Black Forest is unconventional and packed with emotions. Particularly noteworthy here is the great acting performance of Victoria Trauttmansdorff. In the figure of the raped Beate Schmidbauer she alternates between denial and powerlessness, between self-confident power woman and frightened victim. Only with her facial expressions and small hints does the Austrian actress convey the psychological consequences of the crime and make her pain tangible.

And the suspects also deliver brilliant acting performances. The investigators quickly target three men: the lonely policeman Mario Lewandowsky (Marek Harloff, 49), the overwhelmed father Klaus Kleinert (Fabian Busch, 44) and the jealous hairdresser Victor Baumann (Roman Knizka, 50), whose marriage has broken down . One character is more bizarre than the other, and all three appear profoundly guilty. Every minute you watch how the suspicion of rape eats its way into the lives of men.

In addition, screenwriter Nicole Armbruster (45) shows the negative sides of modern investigative work in "Rebland". Extended DNA analyzes have been approved in Germany since the end of 2019, with the help of which characteristics such as skin, eyes or skin color can be determined. What consequences such an evaluation can have on the lives of innocents is impressively shown in this crime thriller.

After the more questionable last case "I cried in a dream", the "Tatort: Rebland" definitely makes you want to see more Black Forest thrillers again.
