Inspector Lessing, played by Christian Ulmen, actually dies in the latest Weimar "crime scene: The fine spirit". What happens now?

It was a shock for all fans of the Weimar "crime scene": Inspector Lessing, played by Christian Ulmen (45) since 2013, actually dies in the New Year's episode "The fine spirit". But what happens next with the popular team consisting of Ulmen and Nora Tschirner (39), who have so far reached and inspired completely new and above all younger "Tatort" viewers in eleven wonderfully bizarre episodes?

So far this is actually not entirely clear, but there are first indications. "The fine spirit" initially allows for several interpretations. On the one hand, Lessing could continue to work as a ghost at the side of his partner Kira Dorn and provide her with advice and assistance, as already happened in the latest episode. Or did you just dream everything? Another variant would of course be the final elimination of elms. Will Tschirner possibly even continue on his own?

That's what the MDR says

The responsible broadcaster MDR does not want to have a full look into the cards and according to its own information does not yet know the answer itself. When asked by the news agency spot on news, the responsible press office initially stated that the basic idea came from the actor himself: "The death of our inspector Lessing and the continuation of his character as a ghost was a creative suggestion from Christian Ulmen." They were happy to take up this because they see an exciting development in it.

In 2021, due to the Corona, no further Weimar "crime scene" will be produced for the time being. Due to shifts in rotation, it was not possible to agree on an appointment. That is why they want to wait for the effect of the film and only then decide how to develop the format further, it says. A complete end of Ulmen and Tschirner as investigators seems unlikely, but not completely off the table.
