“Tatort” actor Axel Milberg tells in an interview what it was like to shoot an episode together with his son August.

“Tatort” actor Axel Milberg, 65, plays the role of Klaus Borowski alongside Almila Bagriacik, 31, in the “Tatort” in Kiel. In the ARD interview, he talks about working with his son, August Milberg, 18, who was in front of the camera for the first time. August himself also reveals in a separate interview how the time on the “crime scene” set was for him.

Milberg has to face his past in his role as Klaus Borowski in the new episode “Borowski and the Shadow of the Moon”, which will be broadcast on Sunday, April 10, 2022: In the forest, the skeleton of a girl is found that before about was murdered 50 years ago. She is the girlfriend of the then 14-year-old Borowski, who could never really come to terms with her disappearance – and now her certain death. The episode features flashbacks from the 1970s, with young Borowski being played by Milberg’s son August.

The shoot was more of a challenge for the father than the son, as he now reveals. “He was definitely less excited than I was on his two days of shooting,” Axel Milberg told ARD. In fact, Papa Axel did not give his son a single tip. “During the shooting, he mostly looked at me from a distance with witty eyes, and then without a word he hugged me and gave me strength,” says August.

August will probably not be an actor

Will August follow in his father’s footsteps? “If he really wants to be an actor after his school days, which he will finish in these months, well, then he should try it,” is the opinion of the father. August himself already has a clear stance on this, as he reveals in the ARD interview. The casting process was very exciting and the audition was completely new waters for the young man. The shoot was “a lot of fun” for him and he was sad when it was over, “but to be honest, I don’t like being in the spotlight.” The “Tatort” viewers will most likely only be able to see August in a role in the crime series for this episode.
