AKK wants a famous western melody

Former Chancellor Merkel was bid farewell to the Bundeswehr with Nina Hagen and Hildegard Knef. But the former Defense Minister Kramp-Karrenbauer is also being honored with a tattoo – and already has music requests.

Former Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer wants to say goodbye to the staff music corps of the Bundeswehr with a famous western melody, a soul title and the sound signal of the Bundeswehr. According to information from the Düsseldorf “Rheinische Post”, the CDU politician would like to hear the theme tune from the 1960 western “The Glorious Seven” for her tattoo on December 15th.

The melody by composer Elmer Bernstein is one of the most famous film melodies of all. Bernstein was nominated for an Oscar in 1961.

According to the report, Kramp-Karrenbauer chose the song “Higher and Higher” by soul singer Jackie Wilson for her family. As a thank you to the soldiers, the Bundeswehr melody on the subject of “We serve Germany” should be heard.

The Ministry of Defense took over Kramp-Karrenbauer’s successor Christine Lambrecht from the SPD on Wednesday. Former Chancellor Angela Merkel recently caused a sensation with her musical wishes for the Zapfenstreich. For them, the staff music corps of the German Armed Forces played the hymn “Great God, we praise you” as well as the Nina Hagen song “You forgot the color film” and “For me it should rain red roses” by Hildegard Knef.
