Taxenbach – Farmer noticed flames: farm building burned down

Large-scale operation for 15 fire departments in Pinzgau! On Tuesday evening, the outbuilding of a farm in Taxenbach caught fire. The building burned down completely. The highest warning level has been declared.

No respite for the Taxenbach fire department! The men had to respond to a major fire on a farm on Taxberg on Tuesday evening – just a few hours after they were involved in a fatal accident on the Pinzgauer Bundesstrasse. The farmer at Oberhasenberghof noticed the fire in the property’s farm building around 7 p.m. He immediately raised the alarm and brought his cows outside. 14 other fire departments responded to support their Taxenbach colleagues. The farm is located at 1,150 meters above sea level – accessible only via a narrow road. “The water shortage on site was a problem, every minute counted,” says Klaus Portenkirchner, Pinzgau fire chief. The approximately 200 emergency services had to lay a three-kilometer-long hose line. The farm building burned down completely. Portenkirchner: “A few minutes later and the house would have been lost too.”
