A Utah amusement park opened in 2018 is suing Taylor Swift. She should pay millions in damages.

Country and pop megastar Taylor Swift (31) could soon end up in court. An amusement park from the US state of Utah is now suing because the title of the latest album is said to have damaged the park. As reported by the daily newspaper "The Salt Lake Tribune" and the British BBC, the "Evermore Park", which opened in Pleasant Grove in 2018, accuses Swift of having committed a trademark infringement. The 31-year-old's latest album is called "Evermore".

Is there a risk of confusion?

The amusement park boss claims that a mix-up of the album and the park caused confusion, among other things. The number of visitors to the theme park's website also collapsed after the album was released in December. In the lawsuit, damages are claimed in the millions. The singer's lawyers have since stated, among other things, that there is "no basis" for the allegations.

Swift had surprisingly released "Evermore" just before Christmas. In the week of publication, the singer landed right at the top of the US charts, as "Billboard" reported at the time. According to this, the album had sold around 329,000 times in the United States at the start. "Evermore" is Swift's eighth number one album. Only two women have been able to climb the throne more often – Barbra Streisand (78) with eleven and Madonna (62) with nine albums.
