Taylor Swift as a mutant in Deadpool 3? Marvel Movie Director Responds

Will Taylor Swift be in the cast of “Deadpool 3”? The director responds… and advises going to see the film when it comes out to find out.

On October 1, singer Taylor Swift appeared alongside Shawn Levy, Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively during the Chiefs’ American football game against the New York Jets. Since then, rumors concerning the presence of the pop star in the casting of Deadpool 3 have been circulating on the web.

According to some scoopers, Taylor Swift could play the superhero Dazzler, a mutant member of the X-Men, capable of generating light. A member of A-Force, Dazzler is also a singer.

After seeing the photos of the star alongside the Deadpool 3 team, the connection was quickly made by fans. But is this right?

The American site The Wrap asked director Shawn Levy about it. As usual, the latter remained quite vague. “They are really noisys,” he said of the persistent rumors, before adding:

I won’t comment as this involves Taylor and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’m not stupid. You’ll have to wait to see.

After the success of his tour and that of the theatrical broadcast of his concert The Eras Tour, the presence of Taylor Swift in the cast of Deadpool 3 would indeed be a great coup for Shawn Levy. We therefore understand that the filmmaker prefers to keep the rumor alive and make Swifties want to go and check if their idol is in the film.

The film could be delayed

Started last May, filming of Deadpool 3 was paused in mid-July following the announcement of the actors’ union strike. Levy’s film carried by Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corin, Jennifer Garner, Lewis Tan and Morena Baccarin, is only half-shot. It is therefore likely that the film will be postponed if the actors’ strike continues.

Deadpool 3 is in fact announced in theaters for May 1, 2024. Shawn Levy explains to The Wrap:

I know we were supposed to go out on May 3rd [ndlr : aux Etats-Unis], but the long break due to the strike puts this release date in jeopardy. We shot half of the film. I edited half of the film. We’re dying to get back to work and release this movie next year, but we’ll see.”

Filming should therefore resume as soon as work resumes with or without Taylor Swift
