The Swifties should go vote: Taylor Swift spoke out in the US election campaign and called on fans to take part in the primaries.

There has been speculation in the USA for weeks as to whether and how Taylor Swift (34) could influence the US elections. Now the pop singer has commented on the ongoing election campaign for the first time. In an Instagram story, Swift called on her fans to cast their votes in the primaries on Tuesday, known as Super Tuesday.

“Today, March 5th, the primary elections are taking place in Tennessee and 16 other states,” the singer wrote. “I wanted to remind you to vote for the people who most represent YOU. If you haven’t planned to vote, do it today.” Swift linked a non-partisan page with information about the elections.

What influence does Taylor Swift have on the US election?

Crude conspiracy theories about Swift and her possible influence on the US elections had recently been making the rounds in right-wing circles. In her call on Tuesday, the 34-year-old did not give any specific voting recommendations. In the 2020 US presidential election, however, she supported Democrat Joe Biden (81) in the election campaign against incumbent President Donald Trump (77).

Your call could be very important: 282 million people follow the influential singer, who was named “Person of the Year” by “Time” magazine in 2023, on Instagram alone.
