Confident in its new generation of Mini-LED backlighting, TCL presented its new televisions yesterday at a press conference. During this event, the Chinese manufacturer not only unveiled its latest TV innovations, but also its soundbars and its two particularly attractive TCL R8 gaming monitors.

QD Mini-LED televisions with explosive brightness, (very) generous diagonals, new affordable televisions with QLED Pro technology… As major sporting events like the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approach, TCL intends to stand out with a promising range renewal.

  • TCL C89B: 65″ – €2,499 / 75″ – €2,999 / 85″ – €3,499 / 98″ – €4,499

No error on the price list, the TCL C655 and C655 Pro display the same prices on the 55, 65 and 75 inch diagonals.

TCL 115 X955 Max: the largest Mini-LED TV in the world is here!

Already available in France with its diagonals of 85 and 98 inches, the X955 series is preparing to welcome a television which has been much talked about recently, the 115 X955 Max. The largest Mini-LED television should in fact be available soon, probably in the coming days, at a price which should normally be around 25,000 euros.

With its diagonal of 291 centimeters, the X955 Max uses a Mini-LED backlight of 6e generation and would have more than 120,000 diodes distributed over approximately 20,000 dimming zones. As we already described at CES, this series is equipped with 144 Hz VA panels produced by TCL CSOT, in 4K UHD.

As a reminder, the 115 X955 Max would be capable of reaching a peak light of 5,000 cd/m2 and includes numerous functions to ensure fine and precise control of brightness, the promise of high-end HDR rendering, especially since it offers multi-format HDR support with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ and HDR10 as well as HDR HLG.

HDMI 2.1, ALLM and VRR are of course on the program, while we find a 6.2.2 audio system (8×10 W + 2×20 W) from Onkyo to combine sound performance with image.

TCL C89B: QD Mini-LED OD5 from 65 to 98 inches

Succeeding the C845 series, despite a new name, the TCL C89B televisions promise an even more qualitative viewing experience than last year thanks to the Mini-LED OD5 backlighting system, the 6e generation, and to a number of zones which has considerably increased compared to last year’s references.

Equipped with 6 references of 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches, these 4K QD Mini-LED televisions are capable of reaching a peak light of 3,500 cd/m2 (slightly less on the 65), all with zone control doubled compared to the C845, with a minimum of 1,344 zones for the 65-inch reference, and a maximum of 2,160 zones for the 98-inch model .

Like the announce that they still perform as well in terms of contrast and would demonstrate a more open viewing angle than before.

It features the features and technologies that make TCL televisions successful, notably with multi-HDR support, the Google TV interface, and the Game Master Pro function, here in version 3.0. This allows you to play in 4K at 144 Hz with VRR and ALLM, and to go up to 240 Hz thanks to the DLG (Dual Line Gate) function which reduces the vertical resolution from 2160p to 1080p. Onkyo remains in charge on the sound side, with an audio system made up of 6 10 W speakers on all of these four references.

TCL P755, C655 and C655 Pro: large diagonals at a tight price?

The TCL P755, C655 and C655 Pro televisions complete the manufacturer’s catalog. At the entry level, the P755 arrives with 6 diagonals of 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches, which should be marketed at affordable prices. These are 4K UHD and 60 Hz televisions, capable of going up to 120 Hz with DLG, equipped with Google TV and its voice assistant in hands-free mode, and of course multi-HDR compatibility. Unlike the C655 and C655 Pro, the P755 does not come with TCL’s new QLED Pro technology.

Announced on the X955 Max, C98B series as well as the C655 and C655 Pro, QLED Pro technology intends to further improve the color rendering of the brand’s QLED televisions through a new nanocrystal encapsulation formula. TCL thus wishes to provide an image with ever more vivid colors, associated with the contrast produced by its VA panels.

These two models are available with diagonals of 43, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches for the C655, and 55, 65 and 75 inches for the C655 Pro. The major difference between them is the presence of a Full Array Local Dimming backlight on the Pro range, for a light peak which would reach 600 cd/m2against a simple Direct LED backlight with Global Dimming for the C655, with a peak of 450 cd/m2.

Aside from that, the two series are very close in terms of features and on-board technologies, in particular their 4K and 60 Hz panels (120 Hz with DLG), their multi-HDR compatibility (without ambient light sensor, therefore without Dolby Vision IQ), or even their Google TV interface. Small difference to the advantage of the Pro model, the audio section consists of a 2.1 system (2×15 W + 20 W), where the C655 makes do with a slightly less powerful system, except on the 98-inch model ( 2x20W + 20W).

The newly announced set of TCL televisions should be available with a launch spread over the months of April and May. We will be sure to let you know as soon as we learn more about the launch prices for the C89B, C655 Pro and C655 as well as P755 televisions.
