Teachers’ strike: what to expect for this Thursday’s demonstration?

The damage is done. For the teachers’ unions, these holidays are “a terrible symbol“. “It widens even more the gap that already existed between the minister and his staff”, reacted Guislaine David, general secretary of SNUipp-FSU, the first primary school union. It is “the symbol of great casualness and lightness”, added Sophie Vénétitay, general secretary of Snes-FSU, the first secondary school union.

Should we then think that the media turmoil will swell the ranks of the event? Nothing is less sure. This Thursday, the FSU, CGT Educ’action, FO and SUD Education, as well as the FCPE, the first organization of parents of pupils and the high school student movements FIDL, MNL but also La Voix lycéenne are calling for a strike in schools, colleges and high schools. This is less than last week when the teacher unions SE-Unsa, Snalc and Sgen-CFDT had also joined the movement.
