Team behind the team – Salzburg’s heroes from the second row

How the team behind the FC Red Bull Salzburg team contributed to the era of success. A column by “Krone” sports editor Christoph Nister.

Soccer is a team sport. That may require three euros for the phrase pig, but it’s a fact. The word “team” not only includes the players, but also the huge support staff that supports the stars in every possible situation and therefore makes an important contribution to success. This includes, for example, all the trainers who work for boss Matthias Jaissle. One of them is Herbert Ilsanker, a true cop veteran – he has been with the company since it joined the company in 2005. Many good soulsThe good souls in the club also include physiotherapists such as ex-athlete Conny Werdenich and David Selbach. Always in a good mood, the integration managers Mustapha “Musti” Mesloub and Ratinho play an important role. They even take care of the players when they have to go to the authorities after training. When it comes to “heroes from the second row”, team manager Mark Lang should definitely be mentioned. The 51-year-old has been at the club since 2006 and has long been an integral part of it. The medical department – the longest-serving doctor is Helmut Klampfer – also plays a decisive role. Team chef Tobias Brunner, who is always ready to have fun, takes care of the culinary well-being of the stars. Kit warden Hakan Efe, who also acts as “grill master”, and Tom Strasser are not too bad for anything. The list could easily be expanded and shows how important the team behind the team is.
