Tech conflict China-USA: export restrictions for AI chips

Ironically, Beijing’s military has so far bought its best chips from American suppliers such as AMD and Nvidia. Now China is also threatened with bottlenecks in supercomputers and data centers.

In the competition between the USA and China for technological supremacy, hardly a day goes by without new headlines. The focus here is particularly on computer chips. In an increasingly digitized world, less and less is possible without them, from 5G mobile phones and electric cars to combating climate change or high-tech weapons for the military.
