1. “Ted Lasso” started out as a commercial

Before “Ted Lasso” made it into the Apple TV+ program, there was already an advertisement for US broadcaster NBC in 2012 that followed the same premise. The clip was intended to promote the English Premier League on NBC Sports programming.

2. “Ted Lasso” broke all Emmy records

From the start of the comedy, the series has turned out to be a real hit. That’s why it has rained plenty of awards and distinctions so far. “Ted Lasso” has reached its peak so far at the 73rd Emmy Awards. Here the series was able to garner a total of 20 nominations. She overtook the musical series “Glee”, which previously held the record.

3. “Ted Lasso” star Brett Goldstein was supposed to play a very different role

It’s hard to imagine, but actor Brett Goldstein wasn’t actually cut out to play grumpy AFC captain Roy Kent. Goldstein was originally hired as a writer on the series.

However, Goldstein became so involved with the development of Kent’s role that he grew more comfortable with the idea of ​​playing the character himself. So he finally handed in his audition tape on his last day at work and the risk paid off.

4. The Mumford & Sons frontman composes the music for ‘Ted Lasso’

Marcus Mumford, the frontman of British folk rock band Mumford & Sons, is good friends with Sudeikis. That’s why Sudeikis approached the musician at the beginning of the production work on the series and asked him if he and his band might not compose music for the series. Together with the musician Tom Howe, Mumford has now written and recorded the entire background music for the series.

5. Ted’s viral dance was made famous on Saturday Night Live

Ted Lasso is known for celebrating his team’s victory with a joyous and highly entertaining dance. 10. The “Ted Lasso” karaoke episode is based on a true story

The karaoke episode is a real highlight of “Ted Lasso” for many fans. In fact, Sudeikis was inspired by real football events. The German Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp invited his entire team to a karaoke evening and made football history. Sudeikis liked this so much that he eventually adopted the idea for the series.
