According to the Elysée, Mr. Macron welcomed on Friday, on the sidelines of the Paris Peace Forum, a delegation made up of Masih Alinejad, an Iranian dissident living in New York who encourages Iranian women to protest against the obligation to wear the sail ; Shima Babaei, who struggles to get information about her father that she hasn’t heard from; Ladan Boroumand, co-founder of a Washington-based advocacy organization; and Roya Piraei.
“I want here to really tell them our respect and our admiration in the context of the revolution they are leading”affirmed the President of the French Republic.
“Regrettable and shameful” statements
“Macron’s statements about his support for this so-called revolution led by these people are regrettable and shameful”said Mr. Kanani.
Referring to opponent Masih Alinejad, the Iranian spokesperson added:
“It is surprising that the president of a country that claims freedom stoops to meet a hated person (…) who tried to spread hatred and carry out violent and terrorist acts in Iran and against diplomatic representations of Iran abroad. »
