Tekken 8: a free demo available on PS5, soon for PC and Xbox players

Expected for next January, Tekken 8 arrives a little ahead of Sony’s latest console. Yes, the players PlayStation 5 can already try their hand at the demo of the next opus of the emblematic fighting game saga.

While Bandai Namco took advantage of the Game Awards 2023 to unveil the first trailer for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZEROthe Japanese publisher is now moving up a gear by preparing the ground for the release of another fighting game highly anticipated by a large community of players: Tekken 8.

Good news for PS5 owners, the demo of Tekken 8 is available now on Sony’s console, and starting next week on PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Tekken 8 : a free playable demo is available on PS5

Whether you’re used to fighting games, or you’re completely new to the genre, Bandai Namco promises that this new episode of Tekken will manage to offer you the pleasure you are looking for. And to prove it to you, the publisher has just posted a playable demo of Tekken 8which allows you to play the first chapter of the story, called “ The awakening of darkness “.

This demo also allows you to try out the first chapter of the new game mode “Arcade Quest”, which offers you (among other things) the possibility of creating and customizing your own avatar.


Fans of the traditional “Versus” mode can rest assured, the demo gives you access to four playable characters well known to fans of the franchise, including Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Paul Phoenix and Nina Williams. You can then choose to compete in a total of three arenas, namely Urban Square (evening), Yakushima and Sanctum.

If this free demo has been accessible to PS5 players since December 14, PC and Xbox Series owners will be able to try the new opus of Tekken from December 21.

Note that the demo also gives you access to a gallery of cut scenes from the different opuses of the saga, and that it allows you to try out Super Ghost Battles mode. As a reminder, the latter consists of facing AI capable of learning to play like you.

Tekken 8 will be available on PC and new generation consoles from January 26, 2024. As you will have understood, this demo will allow you to start warming up your fists while waiting for the release of this new opus. However, remember that your progress cannot be transferred to the final version of the game and that no online mode is available in this demo.
