Tekken 8 goes official during State of Play

Namco’s fighting game returns in a new installment with tekken 8. Planned at least for PlayStation 5, the game does not yet have a release window but remains published worldwide by Bandai Namco.

Once again, the game is revealed in a dark and disturbing trailer, like the stories told in the license. Notable fact, it would be a real-time rendering of a cinematic of the game, such as the players will be able to find it at the exit. The effects and animations should still be polished by then, but it promises a high quality 60 fps fighting game. It remains to be seen if the gameplay will follow and will be able to renew itself.

From what we have seen so far, the fights seem dynamic and grandiose. The multitude of effects, environmental or combat-related, do not seem particularly troublesome for readability. The combo system promises beautiful sequences, with powerful special moves. But it is controller in hand that we can really gauge what this title is worth.
