Tekken 8 unveiled through gameplay footage at The Game Awards 2022

28 years to the day after the arcade release of the first Tekken, Namco revealed the first gameplay images of the eighth opus during the Game Awards 2022. Announced last September through a first trailer, Tekken 8 is revealed more generously through another one minute video. We then find images alternating between gameplay and cutscenes on the voice of Jin in search of the destruction of his rival Kazuya.

Images that gradually confirm the promises of Katsuhiro Harada, executive producer and director of the game as to the models of the characters and the sets. Namco promises that this achievement will come with “new gameplay focused on more aggressive tactics.” A DNA that would remain present, but would be renewed by dynamic and destructible environments as well as “ultra-impactful blows”. These are visible in the trailer with the mechanics of “Heat System” which allows to trigger more aggressive attacks through special moves and improvements in the abilities of each of the fighters.

A cast of fighters who also revealed themselves a little more throughout the video. We see mythical characters beating each other shamelessly, with Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, King, Lars Alexandersson and Jack-8. Add to these mountains of muscles and testosterone the iconic duo Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. The two rivals will face off again in the single player mode of the eighth episode of the saga. Logically, tekken 8 picks up where Tekken 7 left off in 2017, in a world embroiled in a war between Jin and Kazuya. After the apparent defeat of the latter, Jin must face his destiny and sees the return of his mother, Jun, who will try to turn the situation around in this confrontation of lineage.

tekken 8 is announced and planned for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. Only downside, if the images and the first information will satisfy the fans, no date has yet been announced. If the game still looked like it was in early development when it was announced in September, Bandai Namco could challenge itself to release tekken 8 in June 2023 to go battle with its Japanese competitor: Street Fighter 6.
