This update, deployed on March 11, notably makes it possible to start a new conversation directly from a telephone number.
Links with phone number and t.me news pages
Users now have the opportunity to share a t.me link directly to their phone number to start a conversation instantly. However, for this to work, their privacy settings must allow searching by number.
These links are written t.me/+123456789 followed by the full telephone number in international format.
For those not accustomed to Telegram, details that the service requires you to enter a telephone number. Once the registration is finalized, Telegram assigns a username that allows you to be contacted by other users via a link t.me/username, without having to communicate a telephone number.
In another, more anecdotal register, note that the t.me links, which give the possibility of consulting profiles, posts or public channels from a browser, including for non-registered people, integrate backgrounds and design elements from telegram web client interface.
Live broadcast via OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster
Another feature specifically targets professional creators and journalists who are fans of Telegram live broadcasts. In order to facilitate overlays and multi-screen compositions and thus “turn any Telegram channel into a professional TV channel”, Telegram integrates broadcasting from OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster.
To take advantage of it, broadcasters and viewers must have updated their application to the latest version.
A new icon for downloads
A new icon appears in the search bar. It appears when files are being downloaded.

Interacting with this icon displays the downloads window. In particular, the user can manage the downloads in progress and consult their origin.
Changes specific to iOS / Android apps
Other additions are more targeted: the iOS application integrates elements of the Android application and vice versa.
The attachments menu on iOS has received a minor facelift that makes it more consistent with that of the Android application. Already, the camera appears in the gallery (top left). In addition, a new navigation bar gives quick access to photos, files, position shares, etc. Finally, the Files tab now displays recently sent files and allows you to search for them by name.
The Android application has not been forgotten. It in turn adopts the transparency effects applied to panels and headers in night mode. This lets backgrounds, stickers, and media show through. The iOS version has benefited from this design since June 2021.
Finally, the login processes have been reworked. They receive smoother animations on macOS and Android, while Telegram for macOS users get the privilege of scrolling code from Matrix.
